Laser Dentistry with Solea®

Dentists have used dental lasers to streamline patient care and procedures for over 50 years. Dr. Le is committed to bringing her patients leading-edge technology and the most advanced procedures, and that's why she's chosen the Solea® CO2 dental laser for our Eagan, MN, dental office.

Solea technology allows Dr. Le to perform hard-tissue procedures, like dental fillings, and soft-tissue treatments, such as gum contouring, without requiring dental anesthetic, the drill, or cutting tissues. Solea is the first dental laser approved by the FDA for hard and soft-tissue procedures. This means minimal bleeding, a stress-free treatment procedure, and accelerated healing, which results in a better patient experience.

How Do We Use the Solea Dental Laser at Wood Park Dental?

Dr. Le and her team find many uses for the Solea laser at our Eagan dental office, such as:

  • Soft tissue (gum) contouring
  • Tooth-colored dental fillings
  • Biopsies
  • Periodontal treatment—to eliminate infected soft tissues causing gum disease
  • Sleep dentistry—to minimize snoring

The dental laser concentrates light and heat to deliver accuracy and precision when treating tooth decay and soft tissues. It also sterilizes the treated tissues for a simplified and more comfortable healing process.

The Solea dental laser eliminates the need for dental anesthetic, drilling, and cutting soft tissues, creating a more comfortable, efficient, and streamlined patient treatment process.

The Benefits of Treatment with Solea

Solea provides excellent advantages for our dentist and our patients:

  • Multifaceted treatment of bone and hard and soft tissues
  • No injections are needed for anesthetic
  • Less time in the dental chair with streamlined appointments
  • Enhanced comfort during treatment and healing
  • Reduced bleeding

Solea and Sleep Dentistry

Loud snoring is the cause of many nighttime disputes between bed partners. The situation can become quite unpleasant whether you are the one snoring or the person trying to sleep next to someone snoring loudly.

The Solea dental laser can help reduce and even eliminate loud snoring by slightly tightening the tissues in your soft palate, which causes the vibrations that result from snoring. This is all done with a simple, comfortable treatment that doesn't require a surgical procedure.

Loud snoring is often a telltale symptom of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). This serious sleep disorder causes breathing to cease multiple times throughout the night due to an obstructed airway. While Solea isn't a treatment for sleep apnea, it can help tighten the tissues that could obstruct the airway during sleep and contribute to treating sleep apnea along with other methods like a custom oral appliance or continuous positive air pressure (CPAP) therapy.
